Reading
“Reading” is a new weekly series by Books People Places starting in May 2026 — a look at what’s on our desk. Each week we share what we’re currently reading, recent discoveries worth a closer look, and recommendations by people.
“Reading” — a practice that keeps us active, steady as a heartbeat. Books, magazines, newspapers: the printed matter we love and have intentionally chosen as our daily source. Each day we find more, and we notice that quantity is increasingly at odds with quality.
Books People Places (BPP) treats reading as professional research and as a service. We ask: what is out there, and who?
“What’s on our desk” is a weekly reflection, posted on the BPP webpage on Sundays. It is organised organically — in volume and in theme — as a 1:1 projection of what we are actually reading. The items might be new releases, or pieces that have sat on the BPP shelves for years.
“Reading” will evolve into a publishing project within the BPP catalogue, deepening over time — going beyond the cover image to unlock what is inside individual issues, featuring specific contributions and offering a short, digestible critical review.
Naturally, we ask ourselves while reading and browsing (hooked by our research): what is missing? That question leads us to make available, through the BPP online shop , what we have in mind and are curious to explore — and, eventually, to share with you, our reader.
