§ 1 Scope
These Terms & Conditions (AGB) apply to all orders placed through the online shop Books People Places operated by Peter Schmidt, Crellestraße 26, 10827 Berlin, Germany.
They apply to the sale of physical books.
The contract language is English.

§ 3 Conclusion of Contract
The presentation of products in our shop does not constitute a binding offer. You may place products in the shopping cart without obligation and correct your entries at any time before submitting your binding order. By clicking the order button at checkout you submit a binding offer. The contract is formed when we accept your order by email confirmation.
§ 4 Prices — Buchpreisbindung
All prices are stated in Euro (EUR) and include statutory German value-added tax (currently 7 % on books). Shipping costs are shown separately at checkout.
Prices for new books published in Germany are bound under the Buchpreisbindungsgesetz (BuchPrG) and may not be discounted by us as a seller. We comply fully with this law. Used or damaged books, or books outside Germany, may be sold below the bound price where permitted.
§ 5 Payment
Payment is processed through our checkout partner Snipcart. The currently supported methods are:
- Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express)
- PayPal
- SEPA direct debit
Payment is due at the time of order. A current list with examples is in Payment Methods.
§ 6 Delivery & Shipping
We ship within Germany, the European Union, and to selected international destinations. Carriers used: DHL, DPD, or UPS — selected per shipment via Sendcloud based on weight and destination.
Shipping costs and estimated delivery times are displayed during checkout. For details, see Shipping Information / Delivery.
Risk of loss passes to you when the parcel is handed to the carrier, except where you are a consumer under German law (§ 13 BGB), in which case risk passes only upon delivery to you.
§ 7 Retention of Title
Goods remain our property until full payment has been received.
§ 8 Right of Withdrawal
Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal of fourteen days. Full details are set out on the Widerrufsbelehrung page.
§ 9 Warranty
The statutory warranty provisions under German law apply. If you receive a damaged or incorrect item, please contact us within fourteen days at info (at) bookspeopleplaces (dot) com and we will arrange a replacement or refund.
§ 10 Liability
We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, including by our legal representatives and agents. For slight negligence, we are liable only for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health, or for breaches of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations) — and then only up to the foreseeable, contract-typical damage.
§ 11 Applicable Law and Jurisdiction
German law applies, excluding the UN Convention on Contracts for the International Sale of Goods (CISG). If you are a merchant, a legal entity under public law, or a special public-law fund, the courts of Berlin shall have exclusive jurisdiction.
§ 12 Dispute Resolution
The European Commission provides a platform for Online Dispute Resolution (ODR): ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
We are neither willing nor obliged to participate in dispute settlement proceedings before a consumer arbitration board.
§ 13 Severability
Should any provision of these terms be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions shall not be affected.
