Terms & Conditions (AGB)

1. Scope

These Terms & Conditions (AGB) apply to all orders placed through the online shop Books People Places operated by Peter Schmidt, Crellestraße 26, 10827 Berlin, Germany.
They apply to the sale of physical books, gift cards, and subscription services (book packages sent every six months).

The contract language is German and English. In the event of discrepancies, the German version shall prevail.

3. Conclusion of Contract

By placing products in our online shop, we make a binding offer to conclude a contract for these items. You may place products into the shopping cart without obligation and correct your entries at any time before submitting your binding order. The contract is formed when you accept the offer by clicking the order button. An order confirmation will be sent by email immediately thereafter.

4. Subscriptions (Book Packages)

When purchasing a subscription, the customer will receive a curated book package every six months, delivered to the specified address. Payment terms and cancellation options are stated during checkout. Unless otherwise agreed, subscriptions are automatically renewed until cancelled.

5. Gift Cards

Gift cards can be redeemed for products offered in our shop. They cannot be exchanged for cash. Gift cards are transferable and valid for three years from the end of the year of purchase.

6. Delivery & Shipping

Delivery is carried out by DHL to the address specified in the order.
Unless otherwise stated, delivery within Germany takes approx. 2–5 working days after payment receipt.
Delivery times for subscriptions will be communicated separately.

Shipping costs are displayed during the order process.

7. Payment

We accept the following payment methods:

8. Retention of Title

The goods remain our property until full payment has been received.

9. Right of Withdrawal

a) Physical Goods

Consumers have a statutory right of withdrawal of 14 days. Details are set out in the Withdrawal Policy provided on this website.

b) Gift Cards

The statutory right of withdrawal applies.

c) Digital Content & Subscription Services

For digital gift cards delivered electronically, the right of withdrawal expires once delivery has begun if the customer has expressly consented to the early execution and acknowledged the loss of the right of withdrawal.

10. Liability

We are liable without limitation for intent and gross negligence, including by our legal representatives and agents. For slight negligence, we are liable only for damages arising from injury to life, body, or health, or for breaches of essential contractual obligations (cardinal obligations).
